Jobs¶
Money funds dates, items, and storyline steps (Tara's late-night card games alone need hundreds). There are two kinds of work: freelance gigs you can grind any time, and story jobs tied to the narrative.
Freelance gigs (repeatable)¶
From the PC in Ethan's room, choose "Find a Freelance Job." The gig you get — and the pay — scales with your Intelligence stat. The work is gloriously stupid, and the better your INT, the better it pays:
| Tier | Example gig | Pay |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Filling out shady "local singles" surveys | $5 |
| 2 | Blogging about bodybuilding — for European cats | $10 |
| 3 | Graphic design for the local zoo | $15 |
| 4 | Listing dubious mail-order products | $20 |
| 5 | Data entry for "Big Corp." | $30 |
| 6 | Social-media managing a virtual avatar | $40 |
| 7 | Building a website for a furry boxing league | $60 |
| 8 | Transcribing an 1800s Greek love letter | $75 |
| 9 | Proofreading calculus for an online professor | $100 |
| 10 | AI dataset research on a realistic robot woman | $200 |
Raise Intelligence to earn more
Low INT locks you into the $5–$15 gigs. As the game nudges you: "If I want better jobs, I need to improve my Intelligence." Freelancing also costs energy, so don't grind yourself dry.
Story jobs¶
Some jobs happen as part of a character's storyline rather than as a money grind — most notably on Tara's route, where helping her find work is a whole arc:
| Job | Location | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Stocker | Supermarket | Tara is hired… then fired (harassers). |
| Library assistant | Library | Hired, then fired again by the same crowd. |
| Lifeguard | Beach | The job that finally sticks — her happy ending. |
