What is Life in Woodchester?

Is it free? Where do I download it?
Yes. The public build is free for everyone on itch.io. The latest supporter builds are available on Patreon.
What platforms does it run on?
The game is available for Windows and Android on itch.io. On macOS, use Wine to run the Windows version. On mobile, the game uses large 2K textures by default — if it crashes, lower the texture settings under Settings → Video.
Is it 18+?
Yes. The game is strictly for adults 18 or older (21+ where required by local law) and opens with an age-verification gate.
How do I save and load?
Use the Settings menu (Saves / Loads tabs) for multiple save slots, plus autosave. You can't save while on the main menu.
Where are my save files, and how do I move them?
On Windows they live in %LocalAppData%\Life in Woodchester. See Transferring Saves for step-by-step backup and transfer instructions — including moving between the Public and Patreon builds.
I'm stuck on a route — what do I do?
Open the Guide on your phone — it tells you the next step for each character. Still stuck? Try a different time of day, sleep to the next day, and make sure you meet any stat or money requirements. This wiki's Walkthrough has full route guides.
How do I make money?
Take freelance jobs from the PC in your room, and raise your Intelligence to unlock better-paying gigs.
How do I unlock Gallery scenes?
Scenes unlock as you complete storylines. Replay them from the Gallery / Memories any time.
Can I change characters' names or how they're addressed?
Yes — names and relationship labels (e.g. Landlady/Tenant, Older/Younger Roommate) are configurable. Adjust them via the phone's Modify app.
Can I change how characters look?
Yes. Hair, skin, and eye colors are shader-driven and customizable through the Modify app.
Are there cheats?
The game includes a Cheat Mode with options like max stats, max money, and unlocking content (often a Deluxe/Patreon perk). There's also a Sandbox for posing characters freely.
Is there a Deluxe version?
Yes — alongside the Standard build there's a Deluxe version and VIP Patreon tier with extra perks. Check the developer's Patreon.
I finished a route — is that everything?
When you see "You've reached the end of this route for this update!", you've hit the end of that route's current content. The game is updated regularly with new chapters — grab the latest build to continue.
